Hikkaduwa
Hikkaduwa is one of the most famous beach resorts in Sri Lanka. Situated about 90 kilometers south of Colombo, in the south western coast, Hikkaaduwa is at the top of the list for beach lovers.

Other than golden sandy beaches there are many water ports available here. Surfing, wind surfing, sailing, jet skiing are just some of these. It also offer one of the best sites to go diving in Sri Lanka. This is mainly because of the coral reefs that are in the area.

The coral reefs are an important part of the environment and that is why the area is a protected national park, known as the Hikkaduwa National Park. Diving here is an exiting experience and one not to be missed.

Out of the water there are many shops selling traditional art and craft items. These include wood carvings, shell ornaments, handmade jewelry, batik clothing and many more. There is also the option of arranging tours to neighboring towns such as Galle, Matara or Ambalangoda.

Several star class resorts and plenty of low budget rest houses and inns provide excellent accommodation for tourists, to meet any kind of budget. These can arrange any water sport activity most of the time.
